What This Programme Achieves

Malaysian research institutions file patents and produce publications at scale. Yet the commercialisation rate remains critically low. U2 addresses this directly — giving academics and TTO professionals the structured tools to convert research outputs into commercially viable, market-ready solutions. Participants leave with concrete commercialisation roadmaps for their own research portfolio.

Course Objectives

01

Apply commercial viability assessment to existing research outputs and IP portfolios to identify the strongest commercialisation candidates.

02

Build structured technology transfer and commercialisation roadmaps for high-potential research outputs.

03

Develop the industry partnership and licensing capability needed to move research to market with confidence.

What Happens Each Day

DAY 1

Research Output Assessment & Commercial Viability Analysis

Evaluate your existing research portfolio against structured commercial criteria. Identify which outputs have the highest market potential and map the specific barriers preventing commercialisation.

DAY 2

Technology Transfer Strategy & IP Positioning

Learn the mechanics of technology transfer, patent licensing, and spinoff formation. Build a structured IP positioning strategy aligned to your most commercially promising research outputs.

DAY 3

Commercialisation Roadmapping & Industry Partnership Development

Expected Outcomes

01

A commercially assessed research portfolio with prioritised commercialisation candidates and clear viability rationale.

02

Structured technology transfer roadmaps with defined milestones, industry engagement strategies, and IP positioning.
